- Apple - Anything sweet will work here such as Honey Crisp, Pink Lady, Braeburn, Northern Spy, or Gala.
- Vegan Butter - If you want to make this oil-free, just omit the butter and cook the apples in 3 tablespoons of water, adding more if needed.
- Rolled Oats - Use certified gluten-free if you have a gluten intolerance.
- Non-Dairy Milk - Any sweetened or unsweetened variety will work such as soy, rice, oat, cashew, almond, or coconut.

How to make Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal
In just 10 minutes, you can put this recipe together. Here's what you'll need to do:
- In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the apples, water, cinnamon, and brown sugar then cover with a lid.
- Cook for 6-8 minutes until apples are fork-tender, but hold their shape and the sugar is slightly caramelized. Stir occasionally to prevent burning and add a splash of water if needed.
- To a medium pot over medium-high heat, add the non-dairy milk, oats, cinnamon, and salt. Stir to combine and bring to a boil.
- Now reduce heat and gently simmer for 5-8 minutes or until thickened. Stir occasionally to prevent burning or sticking. Remove from heat and stir in the maple syrup and vanilla extract.
Storing Recommendations
Store the oats separately from the apples in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. When ready, combine the apples and oatmeal then gently reheat on the stove or in the microwave, adding a splash of milk to restore the creaminess.
Frequently Asked Questions
