LaRitzy April 2016 Beauty Box Review

posted by Melissa Huggins April 24, 2016 0 comments

Hey guys! Today, I’ll be sharing the goodies from the LaRitzy April 2016 beauty box, and my review of each product. These days, there are so many ways to try out cruelty-free & vegan beauty products, without breaking the bank. Monthly beauty boxes are a great way to do this. LaRitzy is a women’s monthly beauty box subscription, that costs just $24.99 a month. You’ll receive 4-5 full-sized beauty products that are cruelty-free, vegan and can range in value of $60-$100. There is a no-hassle cancellation policy, too. Also, you can subscribe to their LaMini beauty box, which contains 2-3 full-sized beauty products, and costs only $14.99 a month. Sounds like a pretty good deal, huh? Shipping is free to the US and is $5 to Canada

So, let’s check out the goodies!

Organic Desert Date Oil by Toogga ($19)
Full Size 1oz

I’ve never heard of Desert Date oil before, so I was really interested in trying it out. This oil is antioxidant rich and loaded with unsaturated fatty acids. It’s a multipurpose oil for the face, body and hair. It’s designed to nourish and rejuvenate the skin. Also, it has anti-microbial and anti-fungal properties which helps in healing scars, acne, sunburns and rashes.

This oil felt really nice on my skin and it absorbed well. My face felt hydrated and not greasy at all. I like the light nutty scent that it has, too. It’s supposed to help soften fine lines and wrinkles, but I haven’t used it enough to to claim that. However, I will keep using it, because my skin definitely feels smooth and baby-soft.

This product is made with 100% Organic Wild Toogga Desert Date Oil and that’s it. It’s unroasted and cold extracted from the Toogga Nut, to protect all the healing benefits it contains. This is just pure goodness in one bottle. I love that! Also, It’s sustainably produced in small batches to ensure the highest potency and quality. Tooga is the only direct producer and seller of this oil in North America. It’s sourced from “The Badely Women’s Cooperative”  and then it’s processed in Nouakchott, Mauritania. In turn, this is helping impoverished women in Mauritania. I love supporting companies that give back.

Eyeshadow Brush by Modern Minerals ($17)

I love when I get a new makeup brush to add to my collection. This is my first brush by Modern Minerals and I’m very happy with it. The bristles are super soft, yet very strong. I’ve only used it for a week, and it seems to be holding up well. It’s an eye shadow brush, but I’ve been using it for my brows. It works perfect!

Modern Minerals brushes are synthetic, hand-made, hypoallergenic, vegan and animal fur-free. They are made  with 2 layers of soft fibers, which allows you to apply powder with ease and create a soft-focus coverage. The ultra lightweight fibers hold a light amount of powder allowing you to have varying custom coverage. This brush is a keeper!

Pearlies by Leo & Goa ($5)
Sample Size

I’m not a newbie to oil pulling for oral health, and I’m a big fan of this method. It leaves my mouth feeling clean and my teeth looking white. I use extra virgin coconut oil and I swish it around in my mouth for 10-20 minutes. I usually do it when I’m in the shower. Oil pulling also helps pull toxins out of the body and can help people with allergies. I recommend looking into it for overall health.

I was very  interested to see how this product works, since it’s also made up of coconut oil. It has a blend of organic essential oils, but it doesn’t state which ones at the moment (they should change that). I can tell that there’s peppermint and spearmint which is nice. My mouth felt minty fresh! This is a new company and I think they are headed in the right direction. We can have clean & healthy teeth without so many added ingredients.

Vegocentric Organic Lipsticks by Lippy Girl ($17.00)
(Hot-Diggity-Yam)Full Size

At first glance, I wasn’t sure about this color for me. I usually wear pinky tones, but of course I gave it a go. Well, I’m kinda diggin’ it! It’s a peachy pearlescent color! The color isn’t as bright on the lips as it looks, it’s much softer. It went on smooth and had a creamy texture. I wore it with a touch of Lippy Girl gloss on top. My lips looked smoochable and soft! The color was long-lasting too, which is a bonus. I would definitely buy more colors from this collection.

This Vegocentric line is organic, wildcrafted, vegan, gluten-free and chemical free. It contains certified organic castor seed oil, jojoba seed oil, carnauba wax, and shea butter, to keep your lips in kissable shape. Also, the pigments are made with natural minerals, no funky stuff.

Solid Perfume by Glow for a Cause $16.00
Innocence – Full
Size .4oz

This perfume was my absolute fave, as soon as I opened the container. It’s pure heaven! I was so happy because I’m very picky with scents. I can’t completely describe the scent, but it has a sweet floraly, woody aroma with a hint of vanilla (I think). It just smells so soft and delicious! Nick and my son love the scent, too. Bonus! It’s a solid perfume inside of a portable container. I just put a small amount on my wrists and neck and I’m good to go. A little, goes a long way.

I was curious about the ingredients, so I headed over to their website. I was freaked out, because it said that there was beeswax in the product (not vegan). I immediately emailed the company and they responded back quickly. Apparently, they formulated this particular scent with vegan ingredients, for the LaRitzy box, but they didn’t update their website. (O.k, freak out over) This perfume will remain vegan and they will continue to sell it on their site. Hopefully, they will make the other scents vegan, since it’s possible to do. I would totally try out the other scents then.

Here are the ingredients in the vegan formula; Organic copernicia cerifera(carnauba wax), organic Ricinus Communis(castor oil), organic Helianthus Annuus (sunflower) Seed Oil, organic Mangifera Indica (mango) Seed Butter, organic Cocos nucifera (coconut oil), fragrance blend.

I hope you enjoyed my review of the LaRitzy beauty box. If I had to pick just ONE item, my favorite would be the Innocence perfume by Glow for a Cause. It’s something I will use everyday because I love the way it smells! I will keep buying it, for sure. Overall, I was very happy with the products in the LaRitzy box. The products are top-quality and I would recommend them. Can you believe, that this box values at $74, and only costs $24.99? That’s a deal! This is such a great way to start filling your beauty cabinet with vegan & cruelty-free products. If you’d like to learn more, please visit
